Fun Run

The Fun Run is a special annual tradition at YACS where students walk or run to the best of their abilities in order to raise money for the school and earn the top spot on our plaque for our Fun Run winners! This opportunity is the most impactful fundraiser of the year, and we need everyone’s help to make this event a success. Not only does this help raise money for special projects around the campus, but it’s a great reason to get more fresh air, exercise, and sunshine! Perfect for the sunny spring days we enjoy here in the Yakima Valley!

This year’s Fun Run goal is $40,000, and it is going to take a lot of teamwork to reach that goal! All money earned this year will go towards some very worthy projects: campus improvements, classroom enrichment, and the new YACS Faith Fund.

Adults: While the students will be getting most of the exercise, we still need lots of adults to come help! We can use parents and other cleared volunteers to help in the days beforehand for setup, during the event with counting and cheering, and afterwards with cleanup. Contact the office to find out more about how you can help!

Students: You have two tasks to do before the event. First, definitely get those running legs ready! It takes a lot of practice to be able to walk and run for one hour without quitting, so start training early. Second, contact family, friends, neighbors, and church members to find sponsors. You need to raise at least $500, but that’s only $50 apiece for 10 sponsors so start asking around. Don’t forget, there are some prizes to look forward to, so make sure to do your part… 🙂

Younger and older siblings: We need you, too, because you are the official cheer section for this event! Come prepared to encourage your brother or sister to do their best and give them a high five or a hug when they finish! Watch out, though–they might be a little hot and sweaty…

Donors: Guess what? It’s that time of year again when we ask our students to practice their fundraising skills, and they might be headed your way! You can choose to donate a lump sum or pledge an amount of money per lap, in which case you will pay after the event once we know the number of laps each student has completed. Whether or not you have been asked to donate yet, you can donate several ways.

1. If a student contacts you, you can pay a lump sum or you can let them know your pledge amount per lap, in which case they will let you know after the event how many laps they did.

2. If you receive a PledgeStar link, follow the link and fill out the information on the PledgeStar website so you can make secure credit card donations online. This works for pledge per laps or lump sum donations.

3. You can also donate securely using the giving link above. If you choose to donate this way, make sure to indicate that this is a Fun Run donation and include the student’s name so they get credit for raising those funds.

4. The easiest way to donate is to come see us! The office staff would be happy to help you donate towards any of our students, so feel free to drop by during school hours.
